Abstract from Jaywalk’s Portfolio:

Flames and Ice. Growth and Erosion. Jurassic and Ice Age. Ginkgo Bioworks and Studio Troika commissioned Jaywalk to design and build a seating element to join two bioworks areas at Gingko Bioworks headquarters in Boston, MA. Each space was designed around a theme, one being Jurassic Age and the other, Ice Age. The bench spans 40 feet between the two spaces. Our goal was to design something that created a visual transition between the themes exemplified the brand identity of Ginkgo. We took inspiration from natural rock formations and organic cell structures that grow and develop over long periods of time. Jagged undulating forms with ice blue lighting shift and erode to form more smooth and curved, with warmer color tones.
